I think all the answers are correct except for the one that says "English protested until England promised to colonize.", however I could be wrong. But I know for sure that A. Hakluyt, an English geographer, convinced England that it could not compete with Spain without colonies. and B. Raw materials would provide a better life for English people. and D. In order for England to compete with Portugal, colonization was necessary.

The correct answer here is B.

Among other reasons the influx of the raw materials from the colonies would greatly enhance the life of the English people as they would not have to buy the materials they need from other countries. Also colonies would serve as new market for England to sell their manufactured goods.
