The Pythagorean Theorem and Distance Formula are both used to find distances on the coordinate plane. Explain when it is appropriate to use each method.

It is appropriate to use the Pyth. theorem when you have the other numbers, a and b, on a diagram. You can use the distance formula when on a coordinate plane. which is c. a² + b² = c²
