Answer: Day 1 = 35 km ; Day 2 = 25 km

-------------------------------------------------------------
Define x
------------------------------------------------------------
Let x be the distance the tourist walked on the first day

\text {First day = } x

\text {Second day = } (5)/(7) x

------------------------------------------------------------
Form equation and solve x
------------------------------------------------------------
Total distance = 60km

x + (5)/(7)x = 60 \ km

(12x)/(7) = 60 \ km

12x = 60 * 7

12x = 420

x = 35

------------------------------------------------------------
Find distance he walked on each day
------------------------------------------------------------
Day 1 = x = 35km

Day 2 = 5/7(35) = 25 km

------------------------------------------------------------
Answer: Day 1 = 35 km ; Day 2 = 25 km
------------------------------------------------------------

(5)/(7) x + x \\ = (5 + 7)/(7) \\ = (12)/(7) x \\ 60 = (12)/(7) x \\ x = 5 * 7 = 35
The second day he made

(5)/(7) * 35 \\ = \: 25 \: km
the first day is 35 km
