For (x - 1)(x - 7) to equal 0, either (x - 1) or (x - 7) must equal

The answer is 0.
This is because one of the factors has to equal 0 if the product of them is 0.
Basically one of them has to equal 0 so (x-1) (x-7) can equal 0.
