__________ is a condition whereby the wall of the intestines, mainly the large intestines, weakens, resulting in a sac-like outpocketing in the mucosae and submucosa. The diameter of the outpocketed area is generally 5-15 mm, but the depth of the outpocketed area can vary, depending on the degree of weakness in the intestinal wall.

The answer is Diverticulitis or Diverticular disease. This condition is most commonly seen on elders. The intestinal walls weaken due to aging, causing the out-pocketing or bulging of the mucosa. The sac could cause fistula, perforation, and stricture. The most common symptom is rectal bleeding.
