The first pediatric surgeon in to operate in Texas was known by the name Benjy Frances Brooks. She was born on August 10, 1918 and died April 2, 1998. Known as an American pediatric surgeon connected with several hospitals in Houston. She was the first woman in the surgery department at Harvard Medical School and the first woman to become a pediatric surgeon in the state of Texas.
