The total amount of water a tank can hold is 14 1/2 gallons. Raul wants to find out how many 1 1/4-gallon buckets of water can be used to fill the tank. Which expressions could be used to represent this scenario? Check all that apply.

Total amount of water is 14 1//2 gallons:

14 1/2 = 29/2

To find how many 11/4 gallon buckets fit in a 29/2 gallons water tank:

29/2 ÷ 11/4

which is also equal to:

29/2 × 4/11

Multiply numerators: 29 × 4 = 116
Multiply denominators: 2 × 11 = 22

Number of buckets = 116/ 22 or 5 6/22 gallons

If option is in decimal, it is: 5.2727 gallons

Answer:

Explanation:

Given that the total amount of water that a tank can hold is 14 1/2 or 29/2 galons.

Each bucket holds 1 1/4 galons or 5/4 galons of water

If we wish to fill up the tank with bucket we have to pour quite a numer of times till the tank is full

Here we have tank capacity = 29/2

Bucket capacity = 5/4

No of times bucket to be used to fill up the tank

=
((29)/(2) )/((5)/(4) ) \\=(29(4))/(2(5)) \\=11.6

Since number of times cannot be in decimals, we can say that

12 times the bucket has to be used to fill up the tank
