The concept of liberalism developed by FDR was one where the federal government was more involved in the economic and social aspects of American life. This can be seen in several different presidencies after his including:
- John F. Kennedy- His work on Civil Rights lead to the creation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. This law would ensure that there was no workplace discrimination based on gender, race, nation of origin, or religion. This involved the federal government getting more involved in the affairs of businesses.
- Lyndon B. Johnson- Johnson created several different social programs that helped individual citizens. This included programs like Medicare and Medicaid, which helped to provide healthcare for poor and elderly individuals. This is very similar to Roosevelt's Social Security Act, as this law also focused on aiding elderly American citizens.
