There is no Thursday, I think you meant Tuesday, If so,
Total boxes of nails on Tuesday= 1 1/2 + 2 7/8
2 7/8 can be changed to an improper fraction.
1 1/2 can be changed to an improper fraction.
8 x 2= 16 + 7= 23/8 (denominator stays the same)
2 x 1=2 +1= 3/2 (denominator stays the same)
3/2 and 23/8 will be added together.
to add, you must multiply.
3 x 23/ 2 x 8= 69/16 or 4 5/16
