Absolute power should be returned to the monarch--Metternich believed monarchy was in the best interest of countries and the people and wanted to return to and protect that system.
Metternich not only liked monarch best, but helped to create alliances to uphold the traditional monarchical empires of Europe. Unfortunately revolutions occurred at the same time in Europe and the traditional powers could not step in to help each other maintain the monarchies.
