Aside from increased risk for certain cancers, sexually transmitted infections can cause long-term consequence of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Studies shows that HIV can only be transmitted by an exchange of bodily fluids such as blood, semen, vaginal secretions and breast milk, which is a very serious disease.

Moreover, gonorrhea and chlamydia are also common bacterial disease associated with sexually transmitted infection that has long term effects like gonorrhea can cause urethral damage, pelvic inflammatory disease and throat infections. Meanwhile, chlamydia will result to permanent damage to the reproductive system in both males and females.
