The European Reformation caused a long-term political and religion impact. The Protestant Reformation was a major European movement that was initially trying to reforming the beliefs and practices of the Roman Catholic Church. After the Reformation the Catholic church declared the Martin Luther (a major supporter of the Reformation) was a "Protestant" and not a Catholic. This division of religion caused warfare within most states and had long term effect that impacted the politics and religions of Europe. Mainly this was the birth of new religions in Europe.
