The answer is letter D. to make it easier and faster to travel across the states.
Interstate Highway System's purpose was to provide high-speed, high-capacity system of highways without stoplights and with exits spaced, whenever possible.

The correct answer is D.

The interstate highway system is a serious of roads that helps to connect states all over the US. Before this time, transportation from state to state or coast to coast could be extremely long and difficult. However, with the implementation of this system, it allowed individuals the ability to get across the US more efficiently.

A perfect example of this would be Route 40. Route 40 helps to connect New Jersey to California. On this Route, there are 14 states total (including NJ and CA) that citizens can travel through/stop in. Another example would be Route 10. This helps to connect Florida to California, with passes through states like Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico.
