Captive slaves were taken from the coast of Africa to the Americas. = Middle Passage. The term Middle Passage refers to the transportation of slaves from Africa to the Americas (the West Indies, to be more precise) which occurred in the 17th century. Many slaves died during this transportation, and many would die in the Americas due to harsh working conditions.
