Romeo makes it clear that his depressed mood has changed by finally engaging in the exchange of puns with Mercutio. The two of them go back and forth with their jokes, until Mercutio says "Why, is not this better now than groaning for love? now art thou sociable, now art thou Romeo." He is pointing out that Romeo is finally being himself again, which is far better than how depressed he had been about love.
