The Watergate scandal was a scandal and break-in by members of the Democratic National Committee headquarters. It is important to learn about because it was one of the first presidential scandals where people were actually convicted and jailed. It shows us the first president that was on the verge of impeachment- that was disliked by so many- and resigned.
It is also history. The reason this is important because as we all know, if we don't learn history, we're doomed to repeat it. If we learned from this incident and realized that lying and committing such a horrible act only digs you into a deeper hole.
