Wood for building--the lumber was used to create homes, buildings, and churches.

New England was heavily forested and the lumber from the trees were used to create all of the buildings and structures for New England settlements. Eventually the lumber would also be used to create a solid lumber economy in New England colonies. Lumber was used to create shipyards and the colonies' early shipping boats were created in New England colonies.
