Why does mineral water that has "trickled through mountains for centuries" go out of date next year?

Water bottles come with an expiration date due to governmental regulations and requirements. Because water is considered a consumable food product, it has rules and regulations concerning it, and is not exempt from expiration dates. Every consumable product must have an expiration date on it.
