how is adding and subtracting decimals similar to and different from adding and subtracting whole number

There isn't any real difference in adding and subtracting decimals from whole numbers but there is just a decimal point in front of the number to make it a decimal.

For example, 2 is a whole number but adding a .0 will make it 2,0 which makes it a decimal.

Subtracting decimals, just like adding decimals, is similar to subtracting whole numbers. Just like adding decimals, the only difference is that we line up according to the decimal point instead of the last digit.
