Does literature bring us together, or is reading a fundamentally solo act?

I would say it brings us together. Literature allows us to share ideas and learn from others. We discuss books and we read to each other. Even when reading alone, you're taking a look into another person's thoughts and ideas, sometimes parts of another person's life and experiences.
