How do magma and lava contribute to the formation of igneous rock?

Igneous rocks are formed through the cooling and solidification of magma or lava . Hot,molten rock rises to the surface, as it comes up to the surface it undergoes changes and pressure that cause it to cool, solidify, and crystallize
