The prime mover of the proxy wars that involved U.S was mutually assured destruction (or formerly under the weapons of mass destruction). The U.S. and the Soviet Union were against each other, always leaning towards conflict. Both of these forces wanted to broaden their influence, thus leading them into proxy wars.
