Question 1: A. The hardest work was in the rice fields because of the miserable wet conditions. The slaves were forced to work 16 hour days and harvest rice in muddy, wet fields with insects swarming.
Question 2: B. The farmers were the largest part of society at this period in time. They were the backbone as they grew the products for a sustainable living. Farmers produced food for the community to eat, cotton for clothing the community and tobacco for leisure.
