How did the Ottoman Empire and the Mughal Empire handle the religious beliefs of the people they conquered differently? How did their different policies lead to different levels of success in each empire?

The Mughal Empire centralized government
Ottoman Empire was Islamic ( a religion of the Muslims)

The Ottoman lasted for about 600 years, making it very successful while the Mughal Empire lasted for 331 years.

Since Muslims believe that they worship the same God as Christians and Jews, they allow these groups to continue practicing their religions. In the Ottoman Empire, many of their non-Muslim subjects belonged to these religions. They were required to pay a tax, and some Christian boys were collected from their parents to be trained as Janissaries. However, overall, they allowed a great degree of religious tolerance. This led to few rebellions by people of other religions. In the Mughal Empire, many of the non-Muslims were Hindus who believed in many gods. The Muslim rulers usually persecuted the Hindus, often destroying their temples. This led to unrest from the Hindu populations and caused constant tension between the rulers and the ruled.
