Some states in the U.S. had laws that allowed police officers to pull over drivers that looked foreign. This law recently repealed, but it used to be a way of limiting immigration.

Also, the Immigration Act of 1924 passed after WW1. This act only allowed a limited amount of immigrants into the U.S.
