Capitalism, sometimes called free enterprise relies on individuals establishing ‘enterprises’ that generate wealth. The USSR was significantly ahead of the United States in the space race, but when the US government, working through NASA, began to organize and direct the work of ‘free enterprises’ (Private-Public Partnership), the American space effort began to be co-ordinated enough to catch up with, and pull ahead of the USSR.
