Axon typically conducts electrical impulses away from the cell body. It transmits information to different neurons (nerve cells), muscles, and glands. The structure of axon is given in the attached picture where it looks like a long, thin cord. Here the dendrite is the part of nerve system which receives the message from axons.

Axon is a long tail like fiber that carries impulses away from the cell body. Each Neutron has only one Axon. The Axon ends in a series of swellings called Axon Terminals. Dendrites on the other and, carries impulses towards the cell body.
