You could do.this a couple of different ways: 1) notice the lengths of the hypotenuse AB, or 2) count the legs of A'B'.
I'm doing 2)
distance = d

d = \sqrt{ {(1)}^(2) + {(3)}^(2) } \\ = √( 1 + 9 ) = √(10) \\ d= 3.16 \: units
