Ariel obeys Prospero because he desires freedom.

Ariel, who is a spirit of air, was trapped in a tree for a long time by the witch that inhabited the island before Prospero. Prospero rescued Ariel and promised to release him from his service if he does his bidding. That is why Ariel willingly obeys Prospero as to acquire the freedom he so much wishes.
