Zoo-archaeology is the branch of archaeology dealing with the study of faunal remains which are the remains or the items left after the death of the animal. These items mainly consist of bones, chitin, scales, teeth, hair and sometimes proteins or DNA. The skin, muscles or other organs usually are not found as they get damaged and decompose over the time by decomposers, by physical or environmental agents. This causes problems to identify and interpret the significance from these faunal remains as these provide incomplete information.
