Smoking contributes to many cancers and diseases that take place in the digestive system.

Smoking contributes to many common disorders of the digestive system, such as heartburn, peptic ulcers, and some liver diseases.

Smoking increases the risk of peptic ulcers. Peptic ulcers are sores on the inside lining of the stomach. Smoking may worsen some liver diseases and might initiate some too.

People who smoke are more likely to develop colon polyps.
