Reaction formation
Reaction formation refers to the phenomenon where a person perceives their feelings and impulses as distressful, anxiety-forming and unacceptable. Due to this, the person behaves in a manner opposite to how they feel. Here, parents disguise their hostility to their children by being overly cautious and mindful of them
