The name for an indian priest is a Rishi (pronounced rih-shee)

The ancient Rishis composed the Vedic Texts, or Vedas- one of the main foundations of the Hindu culture and religion, along with religious rituals. In fact, they're still used today at religious gatherings called poojas.
