Yes, Bastille day is a national holiday in France.  It is the day that the nation remembers one of the most important moments in the country's history, as it signaled the 'turning point' in the French Revolution. On July 14  1789 the Bastille prison was raided by citizens who were unhappy with the governance of the country by its leaders.  The ordinary people no longer wished for a monarchy (King or Queen) to have absolute power over the affairs of the country.
