Research on religious hermits and pioneers suggests that voluntary isolation is not likely to lead to happiness. While it is true that brief moment of isolation can provide happiness and peace, and also can help boost the creativity, long period of isolation is not likely to lead to happiness, because we are a social animal at our core, and we need social interaction in order to achieve true happiness.
