Final answer:

NC13 is a compound that is not an ionic compound.

Step-by-step explanation:

Of the compounds listed, the only one that is not an ionic compound is NC13. Ionic compounds are formed between a metal and a nonmetal, where electrons are transferred from the metal atom to the nonmetal atom. Covalent compounds, on the other hand, are formed between nonmetals, where electrons are shared between atoms. In this case, NC13 is covalent because it is composed of nitrogen (a nonmetal) and chlorine (also a nonmetal).

I think the answer is D, PCl5. Ionic compounds are compounds made up of ions. These ions are atoms that gain or lose electrons to form a stable configuration, thus attaining a net positive charge or negative charge. Metals tend to lose electrons thus they become cations and have a net positive charge. On the other hand non-metals tend to gain electrons, forming anions that have a net negative charge. Phosphorus chloride is not an ionic compound since it is made up of phosphorus and chlorine which are both non metals.
