What are the restrictions of:
(n^2 -6) / (n^2 -2)

5 and 2
+/- SQRT5 and +/- SQRT2

What you should see for this case are the values for which the denominator is NOT defined.
We have then that in this case the values are:
(n ^ 2 -2) = 0
Clearing n we have:
(n ^ 2) = 2
n = + / - sqrt (2)
