A scientist is tracking an object orbiting the Sun that is found between Mars and Jupiter. In order to classify the object as an asteroid, it must be at least km.

the answer is: 1 Km

If the diameter of the object is less than 1km, that object would be categorized as meteoroids, not asteroid. Due to its small size, Meteoroids would very unlikely to case damage if they collide with the Earth because they would be eliminated by the Earth's atmosphere before they reach Earth's surface.
