Robert La Salle claimed Louisiana fro France. When France lost the French and Indian War (Seven Years' War) they were forced to hand over the territory to Spain. Napoleon will pressure Spain into returning Louisiana. However, Napoleon's dreams of controlling Europe will lead him to sell it to the United States to fund his army and war.
