Sources of geothermal power are hydrothermal resources that have both water (hydro) and heat (thermal) and come from either dry steam wells or from hot water wells. The hot water or steam is used as an energy which powers a turbine that generates electricity. Geothermal power plants use steam produced from reservoirs of hot water found a couple of miles or more below the Earth's surface.
