A supersaturated solution will rapidly precipitate if a seed crystal is added.
A supersaturated solution contains more of the dissolved substance than could be dissolved by the solvent under normal circumstances. Thisprocess is called crystallization and it is happen because a supersaturated solution has higher energy state than a saturated solution.
