We are given:

(a)/(c) = (d)/(a)

First step is to get rid of fractions. We start by multiplying both sides by a.

(a)/(c) = (d)/(a) /*a \\

Now we cancel a on right side and we multiply both sides by c.

( a^(2))/(c) = (da)/(a) /*c \\ ( a^(2)c)/(c) = dc

After canceling c on the right side we are left with:

a^(2) = dc or a^(2) = cd
