A right triangle has one angle that measure 23. The adjacent leg measures 27.6 cm and the hypotenuse measure 30 cm. What is the approximate area of the triangle? Round to the nearest tenth. Area of a triangle = 1/2 bh

Two ways to find the base
sin(23) = x/30
x = 30*sin(23) = 11.7
or pythagorean theorem
base = 30^2 - 27.6^2 = 11.7

A = 1/2(11.7)(27.6) = 161.5 cm^2
