The answer is magnitude. Magnitude of an earthquake is measured by Ritcher scale. The closer to the epicentre the higher the magnitude of an earthquake in Ritcher scale. As the energy of the quake dissipates further from the epicentre, it's magnitude on the Ritcher scale reduces.
Ritcher scale is a log 10 logarithmic scale.
