You must isolate y by putting like terms together.

5y+26=4y-56
Subtract 26 from both sides
5y=4y-82
Subtract 4y from both sides
y= -82

Check:
Substitute the answer in equation
5y+26=4y-56
5(-82)+26=4(-82)-56
-410+26= -328-56
-384 = -384

Hope this helps! :)
