mitosis is the process of cell division which takes place in the somatic (body cells), where a parent cell divides to yield  two daughter cells. The daughter cells produced contain the same number of chromosomes as the parent/original cells. The process takes place in four phases namely, interphase, prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase. The above process is metaphase, due to the alignment of chromosomes along the equator.
