hi i will give u a clue on the answer because animals are linked with their environment when their environment is change it affects them so when the crabs were introduced to this new environment where the volcano eruption happen their color starts to change it's just like trees when trees are in clean environment they tend have a lighter color but when they're in environment where there is a lot of air pollution they tend to be darker bending into their new enviroment
