From this excerpt of “Nectar in a Sieve” we can say that Kenny has a confrontational tone he starts saying how they are teach to bear their sorrows in silence however at the end he in so sure about this philosophies he is confuse and also desperate he cries "My God!" and "I do not understand you. I never will” he is clearly disturbed and agitate.

The answer is confrontational and desperate.
