Assume that a point mutation changes the codon AUU to AUC.why is this a neutral mutation?

Changing the codon from AUU to AUC is what is known as a "silent" mutation and is neutral because it does not actually change which amino acid is coded for. This mutation would be completely "silent" and have zero effect on the outcome of the protein.
