Can someone please explain what this statement means (2 sentences): “If you have men who will exclude any of God’s creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men.”

So its basically [I think] saying if you were to treat a dog with pity and show no shelter of compassion then you will also treat humans the same way.
